In Loving Memory of Shin Nagasawa Martin
February 22, 1930 – July 8, 2025
Shin Nagasawa Martin, 95, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in San Jose, California. Born on February 22, 1930, in Saitama, Japan. She came to America December 1959 and she lived a remarkable life marked by courage, resilience, and fierce independence.
With only an eighth-grade education, Shin built a life rooted in strength, work ethic, and unconditional love for her family. She raised three children — Diana, Frank , and Eva — and became the proud grandmother of , Gregory, Anthony, Edward , Jazmine, Mikala , and Allyse, as well as the great-grandmother of Sai, Kai, and Jace.
Known to all simply as “Nana,” she was the heart and matriarch of the family — the one who held everyone together. She was brave, bold, and extremely independent, walking to work well into her older years and never backing down from any challenge life threw her way. She spent over 25 years working at the local flea market, where she was admired for her consistency, pride in her work, and unwavering strength.
Nana found joy in life’s simplest moments — spending time with her grandchildren, watching her favorite soap operas, and sharing stories from her past. She was honest, fearless, and never played games. You always knew where you stood with her — and that’s what made her so deeply loved.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents,
siblings, and best friend, Mitcha, whom she cherished dearly.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a loving extended family who will forever carry her strength and spirit in their hearts.
Her memory will continue to guide us, anchor us, and inspire us — just as she always did in life.
Forever our Nana. Always in our hearts.
Thank you,
Mikala Robinson
