Lonnie P. Crawford, 71, of Hayward, CA, passed away on July 14, 2025. Born February 27, 1954, in Los Angeles, CA Lonnie was the beloved son of the late NL Crawford Jr. and Dorothy Mae Crawford.
Lonnie was an extraordinary, man, known for his strong moral compass, passion for life, and the love he had for his family. He was kind and considerate, a mentor, unselfish, and deeply empathetic to others. His kind demeanor, coupled with his innate ability to listen made him an inspirational mentor to many. His ability to connect with others on an emotional level made him a trusted friend to many. As an intelligent man, Lonnie had a strong sense of right and wrong and a firm belief in God.
Lonnie received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Riverside in 1977. He began his career as a Manager at Payless Drugs in San Mateo, CA. Lonnie later underwent management training for Bank Branch Manager at Security Pacific Bank which merged with Bank of America. Lonnie worked at Varian Associates as a Senior Production Planner for 3 years. His true calling, however, was found at Lockheed Martin, where he served as a Human Resource Manager for several top-secret governmental programs for 33 years. Lonnie held various positions throughout his career, including HR staffing recruiter, budget analyst, EEO investigator, and ultimately, EEO Senior Manager. He was also an Executive Coach and held a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
Outside of work, Lonnie was an accomplished athlete. He played for the conference championship football team at the University of California Riverside and finished his collegiate football career at California State Hayward where he met his beloved wife, Stanetta Stanton. Lonnie and Stanetta were married September 16, 1978. From this union came two daughters, Shalonna Lonet and Shaniece Chantel Crawford.
He loved working out and was an enthusiastic fan of the Rams, Lakers, and Dodgers. His love for sports continued throughout his life, transitioning from player to coach for his daughter's basketball and softball teams. Lonnie played golf and had a fondness for bowling, having bowled a perfect game of 300 in 1986 and a 297 in 2001. Lonnie served as Vice President and President of the Trojan Bowling club. His other interests included watching Sci-fi movies, westerns, and animal documentaries. He followed politics and current events. Lonnie enjoyed going on vacation with family and cruises with his wife.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, NL Crawford Jr., mother, Dorothy Mae Crawford, sister, Victoria Egans, brother, NL Crawford III, and father-in-law, Clinton Stanton Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Stanetta Crawford, daughters Shalonna Crawford and her partner Everth Avila, Shaniece Crawford-Davis and her husband Rodney Davis. Grandsons Dominic Sanders Jr., Xaiver Lonnie Avila, Zyeon Pierre Avila, and granddaughter Jazarah Chantel Davis known as his little princess. He is also survived by his siblings: brother Derek Brown and his wife Yordis, sister Kimberly Anderson and her husband Odell, brother James Green and his wife Dr. Hillarie Dyson-Green, and sister Katherine Willis. Lonnie also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Gary Simpson and Clinton Stanton Jr., and sisters-in-law, Pamala Simpson and Felicia Anderson. Numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. All of whom love and will miss him dearly.
Lonnie's life was a testament to his commitment to his family, his work, and his community. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.
His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, he is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
