Judith Britton Howson, 83, formerly of Devon, Pa., died peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Palo Alto, Calif., surrounded by family.
She was born in Lower Merion, Pa., on February 26, 1943, the daughter of Britton H. Miller and Frances McDonald Miller. Judi grew up in Bryn Mawr, Pa., attended Villa Maria Academy, and studied at Georgetown University, Villanova University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Affectionately known as Gigi, she lived in Devon, Pa., before moving to Menlo Park, Calif., in 2012 to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She had a successful career in real estate for more than 30 years, much of it with Prudential Fox & Roach. She was a lifelong Rotarian and was the first female president of the Wayne, Pa., Rotary Club. After moving to California, she joined the Menlo Park Rotary. Judi enjoyed skiing, sailing, tennis, reading, and time at the beach in Avalon, N.J. She volunteered at the Devon Horse Show and Menlo Circus Club Horse Show. She also enjoyed her book club and being active in the Menlo Park community. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Judi especially treasured time with her grandchildren, Graham and Chandler. She attended their school events, performances, and field trips, and took them to museums, car shows, train rides, and other outings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Britton Lee and Andrew David Lee (Menlo Park, Calif.); her son, Peter Henry Howson (Villanova, Pa.); her grandchildren, Graham Britton Lee and Chandler Howson Lee (Menlo Park, Calif.); her sister, Patricia Grant (Boca Raton, Fla.); and her nieces, Jacqueline Lafrance (Westport, Mass.), Katie Ronayne (Bridgewater, Mass.), and Nicole Bernius (Greenville, S.C.), along with their spouses and children. She was predeceased by her parents, Frances and Britton H. Miller, and her former spouse Charles Henry Howson, III.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodside Priory Chapel in Portola Valley, Calif. An East Coast memorial service will take place in the fall of 2026.
