Glen Lee Bethel

Glen Lee Bethel was born in Beloit, Wisconsin on March 27, 1945. His parents were Lee and Cecilia Bethel. He is survived by his four siblings, Rodney Bethel, Dennis Bethel, Gary Bethel, and Judy Clark, and his children Gabe Sterritt, Mae Bethel, and Cass Bethel. He was widowed from his wife, Linda Bethel, passed away August 6, 2025.

As a child, he lived with the family in Beloit until they moved to Monona just as he was finishing high school. He entered the University of Wisconsin at Madison while still living in Monona, and the following year he enlisted in the air force. He served for two years, based in Guam and Norway. After serving, the army financed his education where he graduated from UW Madison with a degree in chemical engineering.

He moved to California and picked up a 'temporary' job at the Palo Alto water treatment plant for the next 25 years. He met his wife, Linda, when back in Wisconsin for his brother Dennis's wedding, and Linda subsequently moved out to California and were married for 35 years.

After retirement he dedicated over a decade of volunteer service to the Ravenswood Youth Athletic Association. In 2012 he was presented with The 49ers Community Quarterback Award, recognizing individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in the community. Something in which many would say is one of his greatest achievements, though little would be mentioned about it from him.

He had a passion for many hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid juggler for many years, and part of the International Jugglers' Association. He picked up woodworking and donated boxes to every high school graduate in his circle. And he was always a biker. Through everything in life, he could be found with a bike. 

It would be impossible to overstate what he meant to the people of his life and his community. Should a need arise he was dedicated to meeting it, with love and compassion and patience. There was no one he would not help. We are honored to have had him in this world for 81 years and still it's too short a time. He will be missed beyond words.
