Celebrating the Life and Legacy

Sis. Annie Pearl Green peacefully transitioned from this life on May 29th, 2026, and was received by
Jesus in that glorious city not made by man. A faithful servant of the Lord, she lived a life anchored in
love, humility, and unwavering faith. Her gentle spirit and devotion to God and family touched all who
knew her and leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire generations. Her favorite book in the Bible
was John 14.

Sis. Annie Green was the matriarch of the family with 5 generations, and when it came to family, she
was the best. She was an outstanding cook, and everyone loved her cakes and peach cobbler.
Sis. Annie was born in Castleberry, Alabama on June 3 rd , 1934, to Booker T. Stallworth and Emma
Stallworth. Her family moved to Pensacola Florida when she was a small child. She loved the Lord
and was baptized at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She received her education in the public schools
of Pensacola, Florida.

In 1954, she married her first husband Lewis Powell and a few years later they relocated to East Palo
Alto, California. To this union they had six children, Vernita, Kratina, Letitia, Luther, Zachary, and
Cynthia. In 1973, a boating accident took the lives of Lewis, Luther, and Zachary. After their deaths
she became a member of Unity Baptist Church in East Palo Alto.

In 1978, she married Rev. Joseph Green, Pastor of Unity Baptist Church and blended two families
(LaVanta and Joseph Jr.) into one. They enjoyed many wonderful years traveling and serving the
Lord together until his passing in 2016. As the First Lady of Unity Baptist Church, she worked in many
auxiliaries and was always willing to support the Kingdom of God. She was a dedicated member of
the Bay Area District Association Ministers Wives and Widows.

After many faithful years at Unity Baptist Church, Sis. Annie Green relocated to League City, Texas
with her sister in 2023 and joined New Vision Baptist Church in Dickinson Texas under the leadership
of Pastor Clint Yancy. She worked with the L.O.V.E Women’s Ministry and served as one of the
Mothers of the church faithfully until her health failed.

Sis. Annie Green worked at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View and in the electronic industry in
Silicon Valley. She retired from Kaiser Electronics after 15 years of employment. After her retirement
she opened the Annie Green Family Day Care, serving the East Palo Alto community.

Sis. Annie Pearl Green was preceded in death by her parents, Booker T. and Emma Stallworth; her
first husband, Lewis Powell; her second husband, Rev. Joseph Green; her brothers, Walter Johnson
and Floyd Stallworth; her children, Luther and Zachary Powell, Letitia McNair, Joseph Green Jr. and
granddaughters, Monique Pratt and Brittany Sullivan, son-n-law, Willie Brister.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her dear children, William Earl Powell; LaVanta Green,
Vernita Powell, Kratina Freeman (Dennis), and Cynthia Pratt (Willie -deceased); her loving sister
Betty Davis; her grandchildren, Maurice Powell (Crystal), Stacey Bugai (Joe), Marcus Powell, Aisha

McNair-Reilly (Thomas), Oquiela Beck, Lewis McNair, Edward McNair, Tanya Pratt Agbulos (Larry),
Tommie Pratt, Leticia Brister, Tiphania Sullivan, Willie D Brister Jr., and Danae Brister; 30 great-
grandchildren; her devoted and loving great-great-granddaughter Royal Brister along with 7 other
cherished great-great-grandchildren; her nieces, Rev. Sharon Kizer, Karen James (Roderick), Connie
Office (Kenny); her nephews, Anthony Davis, Michael Davis and Lesley Davis Jr., Willie Stallworth,
Kevin Robinson and Fornois Robinson; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Stallworth; her special cousins,
Virginia Castleberry, Sally Castleberry, Rose Castleberry, Loretta Nichols and Minnie Hartley; her
loving friends, Sis. Faye Greene and Velma Richards; and a host of extended family members,
church family, and dear friends.

She will be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished her. The memories of her love will always
be in our hearts. Sis. Annie Pearl Green’s faith in God has carried her to her eternal reward and she
now rest in His loving arms.
