The Life of a Legacy
ALLEN Thomas McIntyre Sr. was born in Basile, LA. to Ernest and Sylvia McIntyre. He had one brother and nine sisters. Allen attended and graduated from WW Stewart High school in 1958. He then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to attend Katz Barber School (1959-1960). New Orleans is where he met his future queen and wife Mary Ann Jacobs. They met April 20, 1959, and the two were bonded in holy matrimony on April 26, 1963, in East Palo Alto, Ca at St. Francis of Assisi Church. To this blessed union four children were born: Allen Jr., Anthony, Armand and Angela. Allen and his wife Mary moved to Modesto, Ca in 2016 to be closer to their family.
Allen was proceeded in death by his parents, Ernest and Sylvia McIntyre, brother Thomas Mcintyre, sisters Lucy Goodley (Warren) and Bertenia Robinson (Charles), His grandson Anthony (Boo) McIntyre Jr and Great granddaughter Lau’Ray Thomas. He is survived by siblings Mary (Jean) Davis (Vince), James (Wallace) McIntyre, Martha Simmons, Marie Durousseau, Margret (Earnestine) McIntyre, Audrey Price (Alex), Charleen Caston (Ray) and Renee Jenkins (Samuel), his Children Allen McIntyre Jr. (Sharelle) of McDonough, GA, Anthony McIntyre Sr (Vanessa) of Modesto, CA, Armand McIntyre Sr (Shervondria) of Manteca, CA and Angela McIntyre Thomas (Larry) of Modesto, CA. He also leaves 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends. He is affectionately known as Pops to a host of surrogate people young and old.
Allen’s commitment to service and volunteering in and around his community was exemplified through his work in the St. Vincent De Paul Society since1964. He served as the president for many years and helped countless families in need. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Peter Clavier, Chapter155 since 1970. He also served on the board of trustees for the East Palo Alto Sanitary District, worked tirelessly alongside The Ecumenical Hunger Program and various other agencies. He also belonged to a RV club known as the “Turkey Tail Posse” where he met lifelong friends and traveled to so many places.
Allen never met a stranger wherever he went. Compassion and laughter flowed through Allen’s veins. He hugged everyone, he loved everyone, and he had the most beautiful smile. His house was always open and so was the kitchen. He had great love and a soft spot for all of his grandchildren. He often said, “Everything I do is for my grandkids”, and they all knew it very well. He was loved, respected, admired and looked up to by so many.
Pop Loved God and people with all his heart, mind, body and soul.
Matthew 22: 37-40 – 37) Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38) This is the first and greatest commandment. 39) And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40) All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Allen McIntyre Sr lived his life full of faith, fun and family. He will be truly missed.
